Living in a small town called ‘Trefforest’ you don’t expect all the luxuries even though you are in UK. But this time gives you the basic of all you need. It has a small little market area, it’s own railway station, loads of bars & pubs … and obviously…. THE UNIVERSITY OF GLAMORGAN…

Stepping out of cities like Mumbai & Delhi from India.. I wanted to stay in a quite place with no crazy traffic sound all day & night.. and NO pollution for God sake.. So this town matches my requirements.. I stayed in the university halls of residence for about 4 days when I arrived in Wales & went looking for a neat house at the same time…

After lot of searching.. got this one on river street.. Everything is great about it.. Bang at the end of the market.. next to the corner shop.. opposite the best pub in the area…. 2 minutes from the train station & facing the lovely Taffs river on one side..  And the house was neat & tidy as it was newly done. New carpets, beds, microwave, washing machine.. etc.

I picked it up at the first shot. The thing I loved most about this house is the view from the kitchen & mainly from my rooms window… & to top it all… I was the 1st one to come in & so had a good choice from all the 4 rooms.. And then the Goddess of “womenliness“  blessed me for some unknown reason…. I got 3 new housemates… n all WoMeN…. haha…. All my life.. running away from girls.. n now I have 3 living with me.. under the same damn roof.. wat an awesome life man…

[drum roll.....] “Gerwyn Davies” came in at our GTFM studios at the Glamorgan University on the 1st November’06 for an acoustic session… We usually get bands coming in with all their gear & kits & all the possible members. But this session of Showcase Wales was different. A one man show.. all the way…

Gerwyn is a very talented young musician. He writes some really good songs.. Has a clear deep voice & some great guitar skills… While talking to him over the hours, I figure out that he is an ex student of my University. It was going on well with his band.. but then things changed for all & the band split. Gerwyn now runs the show completely on his own. And quite a show I must say..

He came in 1/2 hour early with a friend from his place in Swansea.. & when I entered the studio… I caught him stuffing up on a pizza.. lol..Swansea is a long drive away..
 It was me & Dan doing the sound again.. But we dint have anything to do this time.. We just set up 2 mics.. One for Gerwyn’s vocals & one for his acoustic guitar… We wanted to DI his guitar but figured out the sound was not as natural as with a simple condenser mic on the guitar’s neck.. Pretty simple basically.. After setting up the mix on our very dear.. crazy… 16 channel Yamaha mixer.. we ran a couple of sound checks.. It pretty much sounded great right away & dint need much playing around. I did put a little bit of reverb effect on his vocals & a bit on his guitar as well. With a huge empty room & he sitting right at the center, the room gave in some real good acoustics.. & with Gerwyn’s deep voice, it sounded perfect for an acoustic session.. No headphones again… but we gave him some monitors from the editing desk in the live room.. worked alright for him..

We still had quite a bit of time & so we sat down chatting with him. He is a great cool guy & devoted to his musical talent.. Pretty focused, even after his band splitting up… He is looking to form a new band soon.. but till then he’s gonna go on .. on his own.. & that’s what I really look on to..

We did his 1st 2 songs & then he went in the studio with the fantastic Adam for an interview. They had quite some fun in there.. specially.. At 9, the local news comes on on air. Gerwyn’s interview was just before the news.. & then Adam asked Gerwyn to do the weather news on air.. lol… that was quite something.. Initially I couldn’t believe my ears.. but it was perfect.. Gerwyn gave the perfect forecast for the evening..

He came back & then went on with his 3rd track called Oceans spray which he covered in a lovely acoustic rhythm. Definitely my favorite of all the 3 & the perfect sign off..

Pack up was just a couple of minutes for us.. just 2 mics n 2 leads.. n we were done.. A simple .. but fun session.. Some good music with some good company..

Lets leave words out of this… Let the pictures speak for all the fun that dawned at the Baa Bar at my Universities student union on the 24th November ’06 when we [Me, Ashwin & Ivan] … that is “SAMS” organised our 2nd ‘Temple of Sound’ party. With all the rain that comes down on all of our parties…. it would seem that the party might go empty.. But that’s not what happens when we Asians get together on our party days… cause like any religion & it’s specific good times to pray, it’s time for all of us to PRAY at the ‘TEMPLE OF SOUND’ where I swing the music to some Asian Lounge, Pakistani Rock, & then rock the place with some wild Bhangra & Bollywood Tunes…

The party on 24th made me sweat even in the killer Welch cold.. See all that happened rite here.. & do not forget to leave your comments down here.. Apart from being on MySpace & Orkut … and also running this site… I have another site that i contribute to. Or should I say that I run the contents of..

It is a site I started along with Dhiraj after I was off to Goa with a few of my classmates while doing my Engineering at Mumbai.. The final year of ‘crazy engineering’ was getting excruciating & mind boggling.. We needed a break & needed to breathe some fresh Goa sea breeze.. So with my friend Utsav arranging it all for us.. that is staying & travelling .. we went down to Goa for a quick weekend… Although I have been to Goa before, but this was like an altogether different experience with just friends.. n lot of relaxing.. n some amazing sea food for 3 days on end..

So when I came back, I the Dhiraj were just hangging around like we usually did.. & were messing up with domain names as we just wanted to start an experimental site to check a few things up… That’s when I got the idea of putting up a site completely dedicated to the fantabulous Konkan coastline route between Mumbai & Goa. I checked a number of available domain names & then got this one… Dhigu liked the idea & was more than happy to buy me the domain & lend me some server space to run this site.

Keep it tuned to this space…
